abstract

forest ecosystems and their optimal management can play effective roles in mitigating the carbon emission as well as absorbing the atmospheric carbon. the present research was carried out to determine the effects of 21 year old stands of cryptomeria japonica, cupressus sempervirens, pinus taeda, acer pseudo-platanu and mixed plantation and natural forest stands on sequestration of carbon in the soil of chamestan plantation area. the results showed that the difference of carbon in pure, mixed and natural stands, in different layers are statistically significant. moreover, there are not any significant correlations between the acidity of the soil, nitrogen, salinity and phosphorus and carbon sequestration. for the total layers of the soil (0-45 cm), the rate of carbon sequestration in natural stands (108 ton/ha) was significantly higher than other stands) p

Economic Evaluation of Carbon Sequestration in Zagros Oak Forests (Case Study: The Pahnus Forest habitat, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province)

Examining the economic value of carbon sequestration in forests is essential, given the risk of global climate change, which has posed a profound challenge to societies internationally. The present study investigates the amount of carbon sequestration and its economic value in the oak forests (Quercus brantii L.) of Pahnus forest habitat with an area of 990 ha, located in Chaharmahal va Bakhtia...

Hurricane impacts on US forest carbon sequestration

Recent focus has been given to US forests RS I sink for incrcascs in atmospheric carbon dioxide. Current estimates of US Eorest carbon sequestration average approximately 20 Tg (i.e. IO” g) year. However, predictions of forest carbon sequestration ofien do not include the influcncc of hurricanes on forest carbon storage. Intense hurricanes occur two out of three years across the eastern US. Hurricane impacts on US forest carbon sequestration.

Recent focus has been given to US forests as a sink for increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide. Current estimates of US forest carbon sequestration average approximately 20 Tg (i.e. 10(12) g) year. However, predictions of forest carbon sequestration often do not include the influence of hurricanes on forest carbon storage. Intense hurricanes occur two out of three years across the eastern US. ...

Effect of Different Forest Types on Soil Properties and Biodiversity of Grassland Cover and Regeneration in Central Hyrcanian

In this study we evaluate the effects of different types on soil Physical and chemical Properties and plant species biodiversity in the hyrcanian forests of Iran. For this porpuse 33 sample plots were established in 5 vegetation types consist of pure beech (Fagus orientalis), Ash plantation (fraxinus excelsior), spruce plantation (Picea abies), mixed forest and degraded forest. In each ...
